Sounds of the City
GCC performed at the Davidson Theatre with Columbus Gay Men's Chorus, Capriccio Jubilee Chorus, and Columbus Women's Chorus, joining together in a powerful celebration of community.
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our Sounds of the City performance in the Davidson Theatre. Opening with the stunning “Ad Astra” by Jacob Narverud, the message of perseverance and possibility soared throughout the theatre. GCC continued to inspire with the stunning Mark Hayes arrangement of “Over the Rainbow” and the gorgeous summoning of love with Rosephanye Powell’s composition of “Arise, Beloved”. With the help of soloist Andrea Hayes, GCC invited the audience to discover new heights with the Kirby Shaw arrangement of “Come Fly with Me”. Their set concluded with the celebration of change with Brian Tate’s “You Can’t Step Twice (Into the Same River)”.
Both concerts on March 14th concluded with 2 combined pieces, allowing all 4 choirs to surround the audience and lift nearly 400 voices together with messages of community. We are grateful for the collaboration with Columbus Gay Men’s Chorus, Capriccio Jubilee Chorus, and Columbus Women’s Chorus. Concert video from March 14th will be shared soon.
GCC also had the opportunity to share their Sounds of the City repertoire with the staff, patients, and families at The James Cancer Hospital on the evening of March 16th. You can find out more information about the performance HERE.
